Course No: 2709

The Secrets of Landscape Drawing (27th September 2017)

When we look at landscape paintings by the old masters they are so full light, but how did they do it? Such effects did not happen by chance or accident but are the result of a step by step series of techniques and principles of composition, proportion and colour theory. Here at the Art Academy we teach these long forgotten principles where you will find the visual impact of your artwork transformed. Spend just one day with us learning some of the secret techniques used by the masters of the past and you will far exceed your expectations. That is my promise to you!

See by the landscapes below that these techniques work. We would love to share all this with you on the 27th September 2017

Secrets of Landscape Drawing Course No 2709

09.30 - 10.00am

Meet at Muddifords Court, Willand, Devon. EX15 2Q

Be greeted by one of our team who will show you to the studio. Choose your space and settle in with your art materials. These would have been discussed with our team before the course date.

Rosa will outline the course for the day and introduce the art materials best suited to portrait drawing. Any art materials a guest does not have but would like to try is provided by the Academy. Discover little known techniques using blu tack, cotton buds, paper stumps and tissue paper. By the end of this lesson you will have selected your pencils, pastels, paper and drawing board, have your source image and everything ready to start drawing.

(15 minute break for tea and coffee)

3.00 - 4.30pm

This is the fun bit when we put in the highlights and the finishing touches to really bring the portrait to life. Demonstrations on how and where to put the finishing touches are given as requested. We can photograph your work and email the image to you so you can show your friends online.

4.30 - 5.00pm

Guests depart happy in heart with a new found skill and with a portrait to prove it.

When you have booked your place on the course we will contact you to confirm your booking. Part of the joy of what we do is getting to know our guests. We will chat either online or on the phone about your art experiences and preference of materials, genre and subjects. We like to work with our guests through the process of choosing source images from which to work on the day.

Some guests like to bring their own materials having refined their preferences over many years.

Others who are new to art have nothing to bring and are welcome to use the Academy's materials.

Materials for the day are available to everyone as they may want.

We will provide course notes so when you return home and put into practice all you have learnt, should something not be readily recalled, the course notes are there as a back up.
